A printed internal values book - bringing together for the first time the ways the young clean energy startup thinks about itself and the way it works.
The NASA imagery acknowledges the moonshot nature of the company
I joined clean energy startup Lunar Energy, in early 2022.
One of my first tasks was to create an internal values book - bringing together for the first time the ways the young company thinks about itself and the way it works. Lunar is also a company forged of a hardware startup in the USA, and the acquisition of Moixa, a UK company.
Lunar’s employees came up with 5 values to guide themselves. The A6-sized booklet contains fold-out elements that unpack those values with personal stories illustrating each of these values, and incorporate a tear-out card that they can use to submit their own stories reflecting on them further.
It was printed with sage advice and incredible care by Generation Press.
The book incorporates fold out and tear-out sections focussing on the values of the company. Each of the company's five values are illustrated with resonant NASA imagery - for instance here, Margaret Hamilton the pioneer of software engineering. Each value has a fold-out section with a personal story from a company employee related to how they experience it day-to-day.Finally, each value has a tear-out card component for workshops or to submit a story to share in a future iteration.Imagery was given duotone treatments using subtle application of the brand colour palette. To round out the booklet, there are several pages of notes at the back, illustrated with facts about the solar system submitted by employees. To round out the booklet, there are several pages of notes at the back, illustrated with facts about the solar system submitted by employees. To round out the booklet, there are several pages of notes at the back, illustrated with facts about the solar system submitted by employees.
